After team India’s match against Bangladesh on Wednesday, Kohli surpassed Sri Lanka’s captain Mahela Jayawardene’s record for most runs in the T20 world cup (1016) after scoring 64 runs in 44 balls. This was a huge milestone for Kohli as well as India as he surpassed cricket legends like Chris Gayle and Sachin Tendulkar from the list securing the first position on the list.

After creating a world record Kohli also broke the record for becoming India’s leading run scorer for India in ICC Tournaments with 2757 runs. Kohli has now surpassed some of the best Indian players with the highest run records including Sachin Tendulkar who has 2719 runs, Rohit Sharma who has 2486 runs, and 1707 runs by Yuvraj Singh.
