Looks like, Philippe Coutinho is not in a mood to stop his great comeback in Premier League anytime soon as he scored once again and this time against Leeds United. This was Coutinho’s 4th goal for Aston Villa since joining them in the winter transfer window.
Coutinho scored the first goal and broke the deadlock. He scored almost from the 30-yard box with the help of a Matty Cash’s pass. Let’s know more in detail and some stats related to Coutinho.
Philippe Coutinho Gives Villa The Early Lead Against Leeds United
Aston Villa hosted Leeds United at Elland Road for a game that was earlier canceled due to the pandemic. Interestingly, this was the first game for Leeds’ new manager Jesse Marsch.
However, it was Steven Gerrard’s team who gained the lead on the match with Coutinho’s goal. The Brazilian scored in the 22nd minute to break the deadlock. This took Coutinho’s goal and assist contribution for Aston Villa at 7 in 8 games.
Coutinho’s return to Premier League looks like a revival to his career. In his very first match, he helped Villa to grab a point from Manchester United as he scored and assisted to make the score 2-2.
Now after his 4th goal tonight, here is an interesting stat.
Most goals + assists in the Premier League since Philippe Coutinho made his Aston Villa debut:
- Harry Kane- 8
- Philippe Coutinho-7
- Bruno Fernandes-7
- Kevin De Bruyne-6
Now, that is something that proves Brazilian’s true potential.
Not only this, the fans also reacted after his goal on Twitter, and here are some of them:

He is still dominating.
Forget his goals & assists for a minute but Coutinho is far from washed. If you genuinely watch the guy his link up play & dribbling is not far off his 2016 version.

Anything can happen.
Imagine Gerrard and Coutinho taking points off City on the last day of the season handing the title to Liverpool whilst simultaneously Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal sends Everton into the Championship at the same time. Stuff of dreams

Aston Villa vs Leeds United
Aston Villa defeated Leeds United by 3-0, the other goals were scored by Matty Cash and Calum Chambers in 2nd half.
The win took Villa into the first half of the league table as they’re now 9th. However, Leeds’ problem doesn’t seem to be coming to an end as they’re now 16th in the Premier League table and have only 2 points to avoid the relegation zone. Burnely are 18th with 21 points whereas Everton are 16th with 22 points.
