WATCH: Raphael Varane Scores His First Goal For Manchester United Like A Striker, Gets Denied, Then Paul Pogba Gives United The Lead

Raphael Varane wait for his first goal keep waiting, as his goal was denied once again against Burnely. Varane scored from a beautiful cross of Bruno Fernandes, but it was denied because of a block made by Harry Maguire on a Burnely player.

This was going to be Varane’s first goal of his Manchester United career, but it was denied by VAR. So, let’s have a look in more detail about the goal.

Goal of Raphael Varane Denied By VAR

The Frenchmen joined Manchester United last summer from Real Madrid. The expectations were high from the World Cup Winner. However, United’s recent performances cannot agree that he has made a very good start at the new club.

This was going to be his first goal for Manchester United if it was not denied.

United made a great start against Burnley and attacked the home side from the very first match. Varane’s header was a great one and the commentators also appreciated the Frenchmen for his striker-like finish.

However, it was Harry Maguire, United’s other center-back, whose block denied the goal. VAR found that Maguire came from an offside position to block a Burnely player. Hence, the on-field referee denied the goal.

Paul Pogba Gives United The Lead

Another Frenchman playing for United, Paul Pogba scored first and this time it counted. Furthermore, Pogba scored an easy goal after Shaw gave a cut back to him.

Pogba scored for United after a year, as he scored last time in January. He was sidelined due to injury and made a comeback last week against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.

United will next face Leeds United and Manchester City in the upcoming fixtures. They’ll be also up against Atletico De Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
