As India won the first T20 world cup in 2007 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni it was quite obvious for all the franchises to buy him as their first choice. Many teams making their best bid to buy the new rising star of team India MS DHONI.
Chennai Super Kings gave their all to buy Dhoni and bought him for a mouth whopping of 1.5 million USD.
2009: ANDREW FLINTOFF(CSK) and KEVIN PETERSEN(RCB)-1.55 MILLON USD
The star batsman of England Kevin Petersen and the star all-rounder for England were bought by RCB and CSK respectively. These players failed to perform at their high potential and as a result, the franchise suffered to find a spot in the playoffs.
Andrew Flintoff also had been ruled out from that year’s IPL after playing only three matches due to a knee injury.

2011: GAUTAM GAMBHIR(KKR) – 2.4 MILLION USD
The member of the T20 world cup winning team, the left-hand opener batsman Gautam Gambhir, started his IPL journey with Delhi bought by KKR in the 2010 IPL season. Later KKR won two titles under his captaincy which made him the best ever buy for the KKR in IPL history.
2012: RAVINDRA JADEJA(CSK) – 2 MILLON USD
The left-handed bowling allrounder Ravindra Jadeja’s potential was eye-catching and that’s the reason why CSK management went for Ravindra Jadeja. Later he became one of the biggest reasons behind the success of the franchise.
2013:GLENN MAXWELL(MI)- 1 MILLION USD
