Jhulan Goswami Becomes All-Time Leading Wicket Taker In The History Of Women’s World Cup

As with men’s cricket women’s cricket has grown rapidly, along with fans the general audience also wants to spectate women’s cricket. The Indian Women’s team has gained mass support for the World Cup. In talking about performances the legend Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami has now become the all-time leading wicket-taker in the women’s world cup.

Jhulan achieved this milestone after taking a wicket during India vs West Indies match in the Women’s World cup 2022.

Jhulan Goswami the leading wicket-taker in Women’s World Cup

One of the great fast bowlers of the Indian team Jhulan Goswami has now become the player with the most wickets in the women’s world cup. Goswami has taken 40 wickets in 31 matches with an average of 20.77 which is the most wickets taken by any bowler in the Women’s World cup. Goswami has surpassed Lynatten Ann Fuston of Australia who had 39 wickets in the women’s world cup.

Along with this milestone, Goswami is now the 2nd most player with the longest cricketing career in the history of women’s cricket; a career of more than 19 years. Goswami is also working as a coach and mentor for the Indian team which makes her the very rare player to work as a coach-player in women’s cricket.

A career to remember 

Jhulan started her cricketing career a decade ago, she first debuted for India in ODI against England’s Women on Jan 6, 2002. A few days later on Jan 14 Goswami make her first appearance in test cricket. She made her t20 debut against England in 2006.

Goswami’s career is full of achievements and outstanding stats. She also owns the record for the youngest player to take 10 wickets in a test match.

Goswami is now 39 years old but her spirit and temperament towards the game of cricket are remarkable. She has been a key player for India in every game and her experienced in bowling makes the young brats of the women’s team more skilled.

Honestly speaking I am not aware of this record. I don’t know how many wickets I have in the World Cup. As a senior member of the team, I want to perform well”, says Jhulan Goswami after the match against West Indies.
