Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out Of ODI Series Against Sri Lanka: Full Injury Report Here

BCCI have now confirmed that Indian pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah is not included in the upcoming 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka due to the injury he is still recovering from.

Why Bumrah Is Out Of ODI Series Against Sri Lanka

Earlier, BCCI included Bumrah in the Indian squad for the forthcoming ODI series.

BCCI stated in a release: “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has included pacer Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming Mastercard 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Bumrah was out of cricketing action since September 2022 and was also ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to a back injury. The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon.”

Bumrah had to join the squad in Guwahati on January 10. But he now has to sit out of the series for precautionary reasons and complete recovery. As of now, there’s no player to replace the speedster in the upcoming series.

BCCI released a statement on Monday which said: “Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Bumrah, who was set to join the team in Guwahati ahead of the ODI series, will need some more time to build bowling resilience”

“This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has not named any replacement for Jasprit Bumrah.” Added further.

When Jasprit Bumrah Will Return From The Injury

Jasprit Bumrah last played in India vs England ODI series in July 2022 following which he suffered a lower back stress fracture. He was not available in the Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022 due to the same. The senior pacer had rushed to the T20 side against Australia to improve the team’s chances at T20 World Cup. But, it worsened his back injury.

The decision is a precautionary measure while taking important assignments like the Border-Gavaskar trophy and 50-over World Cup into consideration. Jasprit has been advised to rest more for full recovery. Hence, his participation in the upcoming New Zealand series and first test against Australia is indefinite.
