ICC Women’s World Cup India vs West Indies: Smriti Mandhana And Harmanpreet Kaur Shines

India vs West Indies: On Saturday, 12th March Indian team played against the West Indies team and won the match by a high score of 155 runs. Indian team scored 317 runs whereas the West Indies team scored only 162 runs. It is India’s second win in the ICC Women’s World Cup tournament out of three matches.

1st match was against the Pakistani team where India won by 107 runs, played on 6th March.

On 10th March Indian Women’s team played its second match against the New Zealand team. New Zealand women’s team defeated the Indian team by 62 runs and scored total of 260 runs against India’s 198 runs.

India Defeats West Indies To Keep Their Hopes Alive

Indian Team Captain Mithali Raj won the toss and decided to bat, same as the other day at India vs New Zealand match. Opener of the match Smriti Mandhana made 123 runs in 119 balls and also Harmanpreet Kaur scored 109 runs in  107 balls, both the players twinned with century incredibly.

Also, team India’s Jhulan Goswami took West Indies’ 8th wicket and is now leading wicket-taker in ICC Women’s World Cup history with 40 wickets replacing the player Lyn Fullston of Australia.

Upcoming Matches For Women’s Indian Team



It was the 10th Match of the tournament out of total of 31 matches, Now Team India is left with four matches. They are:

  • 16th March: India vs England at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui().
  • 19th March: India vs Australia at Eden Park, Auckland ().
  • 22nd March: Bangladesh vs India at Seddon Park, Hamilton () and India’s last match of the tournament is on,
  • 27th March: South Africa vs India at Hagley Oval, Christchurch ().

After losing the match with New Zealand’s team Team India was brought down in the 5th position whereas New Zealand was at the second position in the ICC Women’s World Cup Points Table. But after today’s match India has once again claimed the top position followed by Australian Team and New Zealand Team Whereas West Indies is at the 5th position.
