In-form Manchester United will be up against defending champions, Manchester City on Saturday. In order to make Weghorst available, United needs to sign the striker before 12:30 PM on Friday. According to the rule, the player needs to register 24 hrs before kick-off, which is on Saturday 12:30 PM.
As of now, United have not confirmed the signing of the striker but it seems like, he will be registered before the deadline. And if it happens, Weghorst might be seen in the squad against Manchester City. However, the chances are highly unlikely as United are well in form and they might not need the Dutch striker without proper training.

Expected Debut For Wout Weghorst in Manchester United Colors
Weghorst might need some time to train with the squad in order to gel with the team. Erik Ten Hag did the same with Casemiro, where the Brazilian was on the bench for first few weeks.
Many may argue with Lisandro Martinez and Antony’s debut, but both the players already worked with Ten Hag in the previous season and were aware of his game plan. However, anything might be possible here and fans might see Weghorst against City if everything goes well.
If asked to be precise, Weghorst might be seen in the starting XI against Nottingham Forrest in EFL Cup final or against Crystal Palance in the midweek League game. United will play against Palace on 18th January and will be facing Forest on January 24th. But nothing can be said with surety as we have seen Erik Ten Hag giving some time to players in the squad.
Why United Signed Weghorst?
Weghorst introduced himself to the world in the quarter-final against Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2022. The dutch striker scored 2 goals, that too coming as a substitute, to bring the Netherlands on level by 2-2 and send the game to extra time.
Currently, the 30-year-old was on loan to Turkish club Besiktas from Burnley where he scored 9 goals and 4 assists in 18 games.
United might be in a good form, but after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial was the only number 9 with some experience. Moreover, United needed someone, who is good in the air and the 6 ft 6 inch striker might be a perfect fit for the club.
