Enock Mwepu has suddenly announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 24-years old. The Zambian midfielder was a part of Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion when he announced his sudden retirement from the game.

Mwepu took to his Twitter to announce that he is hanging up his boots. However, he will be involved in the game. Know what happened to Enock Mwepu, as he announced his retirement.

Enock Mwepu is a 24-years old Zambian player who played for Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion before his retirement. He was signed by Brighton in 2021 from Red Bull Salzburg.

Mwepu started his professional football journey at NAPSA Stars in 2016, which is a Zambian football club. Then he joined Kafue Celtic in 2017, only to sign for Red Bull Salzburg in June 2017.

Mwepu joined Brighton in 2021 on a four-year contract, for an undisclosed fee and featured in 24 Premier League games for them. He also scored twice while playing for the Premier League side.

Why Enock Mwepu Retired From Football

Enock Mwepu announced his retirement from football due to the medical advice, which he received. Moreover, he has a heart condition, which he got to know about while returning from his international duty.

In a sudden turn of events, Mwepu took to his Twitter to announce his retirement from football. He wrote, “A boy from a small Zambian township called Chambishi has some news to share. He stood strong to follow his dream of God he lived his dream by reaching the Premier League.”

He added, ” Some of dreams however come to an end, so it is with sadness that I announce the need to hang up my boots because of the medical advice I have received This is however not the end of my involvement with football, I plan to stay involved in some capacity.”

In the last paragraph, he thanked his wife, family, and several others to support him in the journey.

On the other hand, Brighton mentioned, that the condition will worsen with time and, “would put Enock at an extremely high risk of suffering a potentially fatal cardiac event if he were to continue playing competitive football.”

Mwepu featured in six games for Brighton this season.
