History Of Finalissima trophy
Earlier known as the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions, the one-match tournament was first played in 1985. Euro 1984 winners, France were up against Copa America champions, Uruguay where France won by 2-0. Moreover, the tournament was named Artemio Franchi Cup then.
The next edition was then played in 1993 where 1991 Copa America winners Argentina beat Denmark on a penalty shootout.
The tournament was discontinued after the second edition as later champion teams were not able to agree on a date for the match. Later, in 2022 it was relaunched as the Finalissima Trophy where Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, won their second trophy.

Cristiano Ronaldo won the Euro 2016 with Portugal but the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions was not held that year. So, if Ronaldo continues to play in 2024 for the National team and manages to win the tournament, then there will be a chance for him to add another silverware to his bag.
