Fortnite Downtime For Today (May 17th), Server Status: One of the biggest updates for Chapter 3, Season 2 is going to be live very soon and the process for the same has started. Fortnite officially announced about the servers’ downtime and the matchmaking status on their social media handles.
Around 03:30 EST, Fortnite dropped a tweet informing players about the disabling of matchmaking for the v20.40 update. However, no certain time was mentioned when it’ll be back.

All You Need To Know About Fortnite Downtime For Today (May 17th)
Earlier, Fortnite announced about the downtime for the servers. The reason for the servers to down was the release of a new update. The downtime was scheduled for 9am BST in the UK, and 4am ET in North America. Moreover, players will be able to finish their matches on the time.

The servers will be a unified one, meaning it’ll be down for every platform including Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation.
According to several reports, the servers will be back around 11:00 am EST. However, nothing is made official yet and it might take some more time or the maintenance might end sooner than this.
