The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season is witnessing major performances and records by the star batters and bowlers. Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Shikhar Dhawan became the new entrant in the record list of the IPL as the star batter completed 6000 runs in the IPL. With this, Dhawan became the second player in the IPL history to achieve this feat after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) legend Virat Kohli.

Dhawan unlocked the milestone on Monday during PKBS’ clash against Ravindra-Jadeja led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium.
Dhawan touched the 6,000-run mark in his 200th IPL match and beat the likes of Kohli, who achieved the record in his 196th match in the cash-rich league. With 6,402 runs in 215 matches, former RCB captain Kohli is the leading run-getter of all time in the IPL history.

Dhawan, who has featured in every IPL season since 2008, is one of the most bankable batters and prolific run-getters in the IPL was released by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the mega auction and was added to the PKBS squad for Rs 8.5 crore. The batting legend has also represented Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals in the tournament. Dhawan has scored two centuries and 45 fifties so far in his IPL career.
Talking about the ongoing match CSK won the toss and choose to bowl first. On a slow pitch, PKBS skipper Mayank Agarwal was dismissed for a low score of 18 in 21 balls from the bowling of Mahesh Theekshana.PKBS are coming into the game on the back of 3 losses in four games and desperately need a win to keep themselves in order to qualify for playoffs.
