KL Rahul went past the 500 run mark in an IPL season for the fifth consecutive year during the Lucknow Super Giants match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the DY Patil Stadium on Wednesday.
Rahul became the first player in the history of IPL to do so. He became the captain of LSG this year and has been in top form hitting two hundred this season.

Besides KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan have scored over 500 runs in five different seasons. David Warner has gone past 500 runs in 6 different seasons.
After missing the 10 editions of the IPL, he joined Punjab Kings for a sum of Rs 11 crore. He scored 659 runs in IPL 2018.
It was the first time when he scored over 400 runs in a season. In 2019, Rahul came close to the 600-run mark and finished with 593 runs scoring his maiden century. IPL 2020, played in UAE, Rahul won the Orange Cap after scoring 670 runs. Moreover, 616 runs were scored by him in the 2021 IPL.

After 2021 he parted ways with Punjab Kings and joined Lucknow Super Giants for a sum of Rs 17 crore. Rahul is the second player after Virat Kohli to earn this amount.
Since then Rahul has been on fire. Both his hundred came against Mumbai Indians and he has formed an unbreakable opening partnership with De Kock. Rahul has scored 516 runs so far and has struck two centuries this season

KL Rahul led the side put on a total of 210 without a fall of the wicket and the first time in IPL history that where the opening partnership is more than 200.
