Players With Double Century To Their Name In An One-Day International (ODI) Cricket Match: With time, the benchmark in the game of cricket has been raised high. Nowadays, a total of 300+ scores is common, and to top that these totals even get chased. However, it was a challenge back then and even a total of 250+ was considered challenging. Things have changed so much so, that now the bar of an individual score has been set high. Earlier, the century was a big thing for a batsman, but now that has changed to a double century.
In past decade, we have seen several centuries in One Day International cricket and most of them are Indian openers. Here are the names of some players who have achieved double century in a single match.
List of players who scored double centuries in ODI matches
The current captain of the Indian Cricket team has scored a double century in ODI matches not once or twice but thrice. He scored 209 runs in the ODI match in India vs Australia on 2 November 2013, with a big hit of 12( 4s) and 16(6s).
His highest score was 264 when India was opposite to SriLanka on 13 November 2014. Even there Rohit Sharma gave opportunities of cheering up with 33(4s) and 9(6s).
Lastly, he played against Sri Lanka on 13 December 2017 and scored 208, with 13(4s) and 12(6s).
Martin James Guptill is a New Zealand International cricketer. He completed his double century with a score of 237 while playing against West Indies in the ICC World Cup.
One of the most aggressive openers in cricket was the 2nd player to score a double century. In the ODI match of India vs West Indies on 8 December 2011, he scored 219 runs with the help of 25(4s) and 12(6s) in 149 balls.
Christopher Henry Gayle
The Jamaican Cricketer registered his highest score in a match against West Indies vs Zimbabwe, on 24 February 2015, where he scored 215 runs in 147 balls with 10 (4s ) and 16(6s).
The only Pakistani Cricketer to score a double century Fakhar Zaman scored 210 runs, in the ODI match of Pakistan vs Zimbabwe on 20 July 2018.
Ishan Kishan scored the fastest double-century in ODI against Bangladesh in the last game of the series in 2022. The Indian openers smashed 210 runs in 131 balls with 24(4s) and 10 (6s) on 10 December 2022.
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar
One of the greatest players of the game, Sachin Tendulkar was the first player to score a double century in ODI. He completed his double century in exactly 200 runs when he played the ODI match of India vs South Africa on 24 February 2010.
Gill is the most recent addition to this list of double centurian. The Indian opener scored 208 against New Zealand and became the 5th Indian player to do so.
