Chelsea Ex-Owner Roman Abramovich Opens Up After The Takeover

The takeover of Chelsea Football Club has been agreed upon by a group led by US businessman Todd Boehly and is expected to be completed on Monday. This comes when Roman Abramovich the ex-owner of Chelsea confirmed his intention to sell the club valued at up to £3 billion

He said “In the current, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the club, fans, the employees as well as the club sponsors and partners.”

The Russian was in charge for 19 years at the club. Roman’s era came to an end after sanctions were imposed on him by the British Government. Todd Boehly has reached an agreement over a £4.25 billion takeover.

Chelsea is now effectively under the control of the British Government. Sanctions were imposed against Russian owner Roman Abramovich.

What Were The Sanctions On Chelsea FC That Has Been Lifted Now

Abramovich’s all UK assets were frozen and no merchandise or ticket sale allowed for Chelsea. The club’s new contracts, player transfers, or merchandise sales were prohibited.

Sales

The club can continue to pay salaries, allowances, and pensions. It can also receive money from others for an existing loan. The season ticket holder can attend the matches.

Transfer Market

No new player sales or purchases will be allowed under the current license. Negotiations with players whose contracts are coming to end must be put on hold.

Travel Cost

Travel costs for away games are limited to a maximum of£20000. The cost of home games has been capped at £500000 per game.

He said ” It has been nearly three months since I announced my intentions to sell Chelsea FC. During this time the team has worked hard to find the right custodian for Chelsea FC that would be positioned to successfully lead the club into its next chapter.
