Ben Simmons, is one the finest basketball players in NBA history. The Australian basketball player plays for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association.

Ben made his senior debut in the 2013 FIBA Oceania Championship against New Zealand. He was part of a gold medal-winning squad where he scored 4-points in the two-game series.

It was confirmed that Simmons would represent the Australian team in the 2019 FIBA World Cup and multiple games against US and Canada but later he announced that he would not play for the Australian National team in 2019, quoting “professional obligations”.

He was also going to represent Australia in the 2020 Summer Olympics but he withdrew from the squad in order to focus on his skills for the 2021-22 NBA Season.

Simmons was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as the number one overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft. On 3rd July 2016, he sighed his professional contract with the 76ers and joined the team for the 2016 Summer League. Later in early 2020 he paused his play due to the COVID-19 pandemic and joined again in August 2020 during NBA Bubble. Simmons did not play in playoffs due to his knee injury and the 76ers were eliminated by Boston Celtics.

He joined Brooklyn Nets on 10th February 2022 and made his debut for the Nets on 3rd October scoring 6 points and 4 rebounds in a 127-108 preseason defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Simmons was left with a further four years contract with the 76ers but he requested a trade and refused to play for 76er the following season. In an interview, he said that he was dealing with mental health and Philadelphia 76ers were not supportive enough.

The 76ers traded him to Brooklyn along with Seth Curry and Andre Drummond in exchange for former player James Harden.
